Sickness Strikes

Sickness has struck our home; hence why no blog updates for a week.  We came down with hand, foot and mouth disease.  Our Littlest started with the fever a week ago, then Little Miss got the fever on Friday, Little Man on Sunday and then me on Monday.  It is mainly a children illness - rare for adults to get it - but somehow I did.

The fever only last a short time (at least for the children it did) - really only hours, and then within a day or so after a fever you start to break out in a rash.  Red sores that kind of look like blisters.  The girl's rashes really were not too bad and did not seem to bother either of them.  But poor Little Man really got the rash bad - he is still trying to heal from it.

On top of all of us having rashes on our hands, feet, legs, heads, mouths, throats, arms, or ears - Dad got poison ivy from being at the land.

So, we are quite the sight right now. I won't post a picture of all of us- but here is our cute Little One in her Easter dress (you can see the sores on her face).

Little Miss bounced back from her fever and rash VERY quickly.  As I was starting not to feel well, she was back to 110%.  The other morning when I really felt like just crawling into bed, I knew my chances of keeping her pinned in the house any longer wasn't possible.  She says to me "Mom, I need to go outside and get my energies out."

The two two year olds are standing with their arms crossed because Little Man was.

Five Years Old

We will officially have a FIVE year old tomorrow (3/27) at 9:06pm.  We have already celebrated his birthday with family.  It seems like every year he is dressed up as some character for his birthday.  Thanks Grammie for his new FAVORITE clothing to wear.

Little Man's birthday theme this year was "Arrows" and
his birthday verse was Psalm 127:4, which says:

Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.

Daddy decorated the cake for him this year.

It would not be a birthday without a picture of the birthday boy blowing out his candles.

He is sure a loved little boy.  We couldn't be more blessed or
more grateful to our Lord for blessing us with him.

Funny Children

My two oldest children both gave me quite the smile today.

First of all, shortly after we started school, baby girl was ready for her morning nap.  So, I gave Little Man two worksheets to complete while Little Miss and I went upstairs to lay baby down.  When I returned he had both worksheets placed to the side and was waiting patiently for us.  I went to correct the worksheets and saw this:

(I am not sure how well you can read this - but by one of the problems he had just written "HELP ME" - it made me laugh as he just smiled at me and said "I needed help."

Then during our snack time this morning I had a CD playing that was reading through the New Testament.  The kids do a pretty good job listening.  We were in Luke 5 and this section was being read:

He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it on an old garment. If he does, he will tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. 37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. 38 But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. 39 And no one after drinking old wine desires new, for he says, ‘The old is good.’”

When it was over, Little Miss says to me:

"Mom, Jesus is telling me 'No whining!"

I got quite the smile and also agreed with her
that Jesus does not want us to whine.

Rainy Day Activity #2

After it stopped raining, we headed straight outside....
What were they in a hurry to do?

They were on a worm hunt!
They both enjoyed grabbing them...and then what?

Throwing them back into the grass.  Don't worry - they were being nice :)

And of course Little Miss didn't want baby sister to be left out -

She made sure that baby sister got to see a worm up close and personal!

Nap Time?

While both her older brother and younger sister are fast asleep, this little one was busy in her room. I had heard some noise up there, but like any mom would do during "nap" time "if they are not screaming and not coming out of their room, let it go..." So I did. But around 3pm I saw this smiley face pop out of her room.

What do you think? Does this look like a little girl who napped this afternoon?

On another note - look what we found at Wal-Mart today for Little Miss...

A purple fan for this PURPLE LOVER!

We needed a fan for her room - but what are the chances we find a purple one?  She of course LOVES it.
